Welcome to the Bethany Presbyterian Church website. We are the little church on the hill.

Nestled in the pine trees near the Crystal Springs Reservoir, the surroundings of our church are a constant reminder of our connection to God's Spirit in all of creation.

At Bethany, we strive to be a nurturing community of faith, centered in the belief that God in Christ calls us to be family. Through worship, prayer, study and fellowship, we discover God's presence and love for us in our lives. With grateful and humble hearts, we also seek ways to embody and live out God's love with the larger community through hands-on outreach and mission.

There are fellowship events, such as the Adult Bible Study classes and Summer Movie Nights as well as special programs for seniors. See our calendar for additional activities.

One of the hallmarks of Bethany is our outstanding music program, which surrounds us with songs and hymns each Sunday in classical, contemporary, and gospel styles of music.

New Pastor Search

The Pastor Nominating Commmittee has finished its work on the Church Information Form and the session approved it at its August meeting. When it is approved by the session it will be forwarded to the Committee On Ministry of the San Francisco Presbytery for approval. Once that process is complete the local PNC can receive resumes from interested ministers.

Construction:
With the summer  coming to a close, Bethany looks forward to enjoying a new-looking campus. Yet to be scheduled is a upgrade to our lighting that will lower utility bills and make our building more efficient in the way we use electricity.

The company that will do the work has contacted us and will arrange a date for the installation of new bulbs and fixtures sometime in the next few weeks.

The First Sunday of October is World Communion. It will provide the next opportunity for Mohk Yang and Bethany to worship together witnessing to the diversity of the Christian Community that gathers around the Lord's Table.

San Bruno Hospitality House
Bethany continues their support of the San Bruno Hospitality House. Any donations are appreciated, but they especially need oatmeal, peanut butter, pasta and sauce, jam, applesauce, chili, tuna, canned fruits and vegetables, powdered milk, sugar, salt and pepper, regular ground coffee, zip-lock bags, tea bags, toilet paper, mens' underwear and socks.

While Pastor Don was on vacation the pulpit was ably filled by the Rev. Sally Bystroff, the Rev. Harry Chuck and the Rev. Nancy Vincent Martin.

One of our new congregants, Janet Steele, is off to Haiti on September 1 with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission to comfort and help the people in Port au Prince continue to improve their lives. Janet invited us to make bookmarks out of tagboard last Sunday and we will help her record her time their by helping her replace a stolen camera.

The Deacons' collection of school supplies has been delivered to the center at Target for distribution to children of need as they start school. Thanks to all who added supplies to the baskets. Many children will be grateful to have the supplies required.
