A More Light Congregation

Bethany Presbyterian Church

The local community is invited to be with us as we commemorate and celebrate Holy Week at Bethany Presbyterian Church in San Bruno. All people, of every faith journey, are welcome at Bethany.

Palm Sunday (April 9, 10:00 a.m.) commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem before he was betrayed and crucified. We will wave palm branches, singing hosannas as we enter into Holy Week.

Our Good Friday Service (April 14, 7:00 p.m.) will be a unique drama/service written by Rev. Richard Pyke. Please plan to join us for the Chancel drama, "I Ran Away".  Biblical characters will come alive with all the emotions that come from being questioned and indicted by members of the Sanhedrin (the local Jewish council in the time of Jesus). The chancel drama will explore the reasons why Jesus’ closest friends and disciples deserted him at the time of his arrest.

Easter Sunrise (April 16, 6:30 a.m.) is held in the Sunrise area above and to the west of the church parking lot. We gather before the sun comes up, so bring along some warm coats and/or blankets, and prepare to enjoy the start of this most excellent of days!  We will watch the sun rise and celebrate the risen Son at our service held on the hill overlooking the church. Following that service, a reception will be held in the sanctuary with hot drinks, juices, sticky rolls, and other treats sure to warm up your body and your spirits!

Our 10 a.m. Easter worship service will include beautiful music by Chancel Choir, Prayz, and congregational hymn singing, along with a message of joy and celebration as we mark the joyous resurrection of Jesus Christ. Another reception will follow that worship service, and it will be a time to gather and rejoice in the age-old story. Please welcome your family and friends to be part of the day! It is sure to be glorious!

A children‘s egg hunt will be held immediately following worship in the Healing Garden and its surrounds.  Please invite your children, grandchildren, and neighbors to take part in this rite of Spring!
